Expressable

Insurance and Payment Options for Expressable Speech Therapy

At Expressable, our mission is to expand access to the highest quality speech therapy. We strive to ensure everyone receives the services they need to become clear, confident communicators. There are many ways for families and individuals to access our services.

How to access Expressable speech therapy

In-network insurance benefit

Expressable partners and contracts with hundreds of health insurance companies, including some of the country’s largest carriers, to provide in-network benefits. We’re proud to work with insurance providers like UnitedHealthcare, Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, and many more at both the regional and national level. And the list keeps growing every month!

We partner with many different types of health plans, including:

  • Commercial plans: Employer-sponsored health plans or those purchased privately from a health insurance company

  • Medicaid health plans

  • Traditional Medicare as well as Medicare Advantage plans

  • Dual special needs insurance plans

  • Workers comp plans

When you use insurance benefits, “patient responsibility” refers to the portion of a medical bill that you are responsible for paying. It often takes the form of a copay or coinsurance. Your patient responsibility can vary based on many factors, including your coverage benefits, remaining deductible, out-of-pocket maximum, and more.

Insurance can be complicated. However, our expert insurance and clinical teams are here to help!

Out-of-network insurance benefit

Even if we're not yet contracted with your health plan, many health insurance companies also provide out-of-network benefits.

We may still be able to submit claims and get all or part of your speech therapy services reimbursed through your insurance company. We’ll complete a benefits check for you and then confirm your coverage and expected costs.

In addition, if Expressable is not in-network with your health insurance company, we can provide you with a superbill. A superbill is essentially a detailed and itemized receipt for your speech therapy services. Many insurance companies will accept superbills and reimburse you directly for services. Superbill acceptance does vary on a plan-by-plan basis, so it’s important to confirm with your insurance provider.

Private pay options

Expressable offers affordable private pay rates. A speech and language evaluation is $175 and ongoing speech therapy is $88 per session. There are no surprises or hidden fees, and you can cancel anytime.

Expressable accepts many different payment forms, including credit cards and debit cards. If you have a health savings account (HSA) or flexible spending account (FSA), you can also use these pre-tax funds toward your speech therapy sessions.

State funding/scholarship programs

We accept ClassWallet (coverage varies state by state) and other state education and learning scholarship programs. This list continues to grow each month, so make sure to ask us about funding programs!

Take our simple online screener

You can also take our free online screener, developed by our clinical team. This simple screener takes just a few minutes and will let you know if a speech evaluation is recommended, either for you or for your child. The quiz questions are tailored by age, from babies and toddlers through school-age children, teens, and adults.

The screener questions cover these issues:

Once you receive your personalized screener results, you can discuss them with one of our speech therapists during an evaluation.
