Expressable Earns The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval® for Health Care

Expressable has earned accreditation by The Joint Commission, a nonprofit organization that accredits health care organizations worldwide for providing high-quality care.

So what does this mean for our clients? At Expressable, providing children and adults with exceptional speech therapy is at the heart of all we do. That’s why we decided to pursue this accreditation. Earning The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval reflects our commitment to you. You can count on us to:

  • Prioritize quality, safety, equity, and compassion for all people we treat

  • Build trusting relationships with our clients, focused on honesty and accountability

  • Educate caregivers and families and work closely with them to achieve the best possible therapy outcomes

What is The Joint Commission?

The Joint Commission’s vision is for all people to receive safe, high-quality, and consistently excellent health care. For more than 70 years, The Joint Commission has been a leader in improving the quality and safety of health care around the world.

At Expressable, leading with the highest quality of speech therapy is our top priority. That’s why we decided to pursue accreditation.

The Joint Commission sets rigorous quality standards and evaluates how well health care organizations meet those standards. The standards allow health care organizations to measure, assess, and improve their performance, so patients receive the best care possible.

The Joint Commission’s standards are informed by scientific literature and expert consensus. They are developed in consultation with health care providers, measurement experts, and patients.

How did Expressable earn The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval?

After choosing to pursue accreditation, we spent more than 15 months preparing to ensure we met The Joint Commission’s standards. We undertook a detailed review and analysis of all areas at Expressable, including care quality, our speech therapists’ performance, and how we manage patient information.

The Joint Commission then conducted a thorough evaluation of Expressable. They reviewed how well we met the standards in clinical care, data management, emergency management, client safety, and more. A surveyor from The Joint Commission met with our leadership team. They observed speech therapy sessions and interviewed several of our clients and speech therapists

We’re proud of the care our speech therapists provide every day

“As a healthcare accreditor, The Joint Commission works with health care organizations across care settings to inspire safer and higher quality of care,” says Ken Grubbs, DNP, MBA, RN, executive vice president of Accreditation and Certification Operations and chief nursing officer, The Joint Commission. “We commend Expressable for its commitment to advance safety, quality, equity, and compassion for all patients.”

“At Expressable, leading with the highest quality of speech therapy is our top priority,” says Leanne Sherred, MS, CCC-SLP, president and chief clinical officer, Expressable. “This is why we decided to pursue accreditation and certification with The Joint Commission. Our unique model of speech therapy is research-based, family-centered, and focused on accessibility.
