About me

Hi! I'm Chelsea. I became a licensed speech-language pathologist (SLP) in 2017. I first found an interest around the age of 14 years. I was with my mom at work, where she was the Director of Special and Alternative Education, and this hilarious group of women were sitting in a room across from her discussing books and planning out a new reading program for the elementary classes. I kept looking to see what it was all about because I loved to read, so they invited me in and asked me to help them out. It turned out they were a group of SLPs, PTs and OTs, all creating a functional program to work together with the special education classes. I was hooked from then on and began to work as a TA in the classrooms and the SLP there took me under her wing and that was when I decided this is what I wanted to do. From there, I fell in love with other areas of the profession! I have worked in settings such as early intervention, special education preschool, home health/virtual. At one point in time, I was LSVT certified to work with adults with voice disorders due to Parkinson's Disease. Due to costs, it has lapsed, but I loved learning new techniques to help my clients. I would describe my clinical style as holistic, client-centered, functional, individualized/personalized, family-centric, and rooted in client empowerment to create self-advocates.

Other interests

I love reading books, whether it's on my kindle, my kindle app on my phone, or paper books in my hands, it is a true love of mine! I also have started baking my own bread, not sourdough, like a lot of other people during the pandemic. It is very calming for me and my family loves fresh baked goods. I am looking to do more outside now with my two boys (4 and 1 years) so we get to enjoy the Hudson Valley here in NY!
