About me

Hi! I'm Elizabeth. I became a licensed speech-language pathologist (SLP) in 2018. I was introduced to the world of therapy from a young age as my mom was an occupational therapist. I loved the opportunities I had to watch her work and see the impact her work had on her clients. When I was a teenager a career test matched me with the job of 'communications' which, with my background knowledge in therapy, led me to consider studying communication sciences and disorders in order to become an SLP. My first step was to shadow a school-based speech language pathologist and it was love at first watch. It perfectly combined my interest in language and writing, with my love for working with children as well as my desire to work with others in meaningful one-on-one interactions. I quickly sought opportunities to build my knowledge base and experience in this area and never looked back! I am certified to work with individuals with Autism through Virginia Commonwealth University and am also certified as an early interventionist. I have taken courses related to treating brain injuries and various courses related to phonological disorders. In the Fall of 2022 I was a co-instructor for the "Language Disorders: Birth to Five Years" course at Radford University. I have worked in settings such as outpatient clinics, inpatient clinics, university clinics, schools, in-home services via early intervention. I would describe my clinical style as client-centered, functional, individualized/personalized, and family-centric.
