About me

Hi! I'm Krista. I became a licensed speech-language pathologist (SLP) in 2001. I became an SLP because I really enjoy working with people. I enjoy working with the pediatric population as the kids bring so much excitement, joy and uniqueness to all interactions. Every child that I work with brings new interests and strengths to the table that can be used to build skills in their areas of need. In addition, I enjoy working with adults as it allows me to learn about different lives and life stories while assisting them in the areas of regaining function or reaching goals that they have for themselves. I have worked in settings such as telehealth, private practice, school based, and home health. Throughout my career I have participated in many continuing education opportunities. I have been a certified trainer for the "It takes two to talk" training as well as conferences centering around "Social Thinking". I have been a part of multiple in-service trainings for educational and private organizations as well as state and national conferences on topics such as: "Strategies for Teaching the School-Aged Child with Autism"; "Situational Communication Boards for Nonverbal Students with Autism"; "The Language Impaired Child" and "Communication Keys for Students with Autism". I would describe my clinical style as client-centered, functional, individualized/personalized, family-centric, strengths-based, sensory integrated, and rooted in client empowerment to foster self-advocacy.
